Ensuring Sustainability in The Muslim World: Empowering People, Leveraging Resources
This multidisciplinary volume addresses the critical challenges and strategic pathways for achieving sustainable development across the Muslim world. Integrating the ethical principles of Islamic jurisprudence (Maqasid al-Shariah) with the global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) framework, the book focuses on two central pillars: human capacity empowerment and the optimal, responsible leverage of natural and financial resources. The contributors analyze how Islamic social finance instruments—such as Zakat, Waqf, and green sukuk—can be mobilized to alleviate poverty, foster social entrepreneurship, enhance education and healthcare access, and finance environmentally sustainable infrastructure. Ultimately, the volume provides evidence-based policy insights aimed at advancing economic resilience, social justice, and environmental stewardship throughout Islamic nations in an era of climate change and economic transition.
